True Son in Faith
by Adi Susanto
Last week I hand-washed my car. Perfect. Shinny. Until during KSF, I parked my car under a big tree by the Gilsan St., it got sap from the tree all over. This morning after dropping Ingrid off to work, I had an hour to wait for post office and bank to open, so I decided to look for a carwash. There was one close by Lloyd Center area, in a Shell gas station.
I pulled in by the pay station, and it offers 3 services:$5 regular wash - who wants "regular"??
$7 jet wash + tires - sounds good, but with the extra $2, not enough extra service
$8 jet wash + tires + color guard + protection coating - this is it; I need all those stuff to get rid of all the sap!
So I paid $8, pulled in to the machine, parked and turned off the engine, and let the machine do all the works. It worked! No more sap left!! Suddenly there was the sign "wash done" and then there was the green light, but my car still wet. Oh no... there was no air blower! So I drove out of the machine, and asked the keeper, "How come the machine didn't airdry my car?" And he replied, "You read the services offered again, there is no airdrying."
I'm very dissapointed. Now my car got spots all over because it came out wet and it was a sunny day. For sure I'm not going back there, and I will tell my friends not to go there!
Likewise in our ministry of reconciliation, do we finish our works?
Last week in Spiritual Parent class, the homework was to do TAWG from 1 Timothy. Paul began his letter by addressing Timothy as his "true son in faith". The Holy Spirit brought the word "representation" to me, and I've been meditating on this. Am I a good representation of Christ, of His church, of my leaders?
Christ finished His works.
Unless we see ourselves as parents, instead of leaders, to our carecell members and oikos, we would hardly finish our works. Some of us may think we don't have enough time, while others may think we don't make enough money. But if I remember my parents, there were times when things didn't work out according to their plans in terms of the time and/or the money they would like to have for raising me and my siblings, but they continued and finished their works. Once a parent, always a parent.
With Jesus Christ as the absolute Lord of our life...
